The 15 centes stamp III type hand made paper (25/8/1852)

Type IIIa Type IIIb Type IIIc
The 15 CENTES cliché III type comes from a 10 CENTES cliché; the characteristics are for this reason similar to this stamp:
- elettrotype fot 4° and 5° plates, harden stereotype for the 6° plate;
- tip of the lower internal right ornament, in the value frame, under “S.” of CENTES blunted and with a color dot;
- superior part of the middle line of first “E” of CENTES defective (not completed);
- small sign on the external right side of the coat of arms (in the high part, near the acorn);
- number “1” and “5” not aligned;
- number “5” connected to the superior line of the value frame and open;
- tip of the superior right ornament, in the value frame, in line with the end of “S” of CENTES.
- tip of the lower internal right ornament, in the coat of arms frame, short and flat;
Type IIIa:
No other characteristic.
The stamp of this type can be divided into: plate 4° (mixed IIIa, IIIb, IIIc), 5° e 6°.
Type IIIb:
Moreover the characteristic of IIIa type, has a dot of color in the left superior part of “S” of “CENTES”.
With this cliché was printed the stamps of Plate 4° (mixed IIIa, IIIb, IIIc).
Type IIIc:
Moreover the characteristic of IIIa type, has a dot of color in the inferior left part in the value frame.
With this cliché was printed the stamps of Plate 4° (mixed IIIa, IIIb, IIIc).
Three plates was printed with the IIIa type: 4°, 5° and 6°.
The 4° plate stamps were printed too lightly and this usually gives them a characteristic granulated appearence, the common color of this plate are the pale carmine, carmine and slightly rose carmine.
The 5° plate has the “foliage”, seeing the stamp on the back you note that the number 15 and the value CENTES are printed in relief; moreover the common color of this plate is the salmon.
The 6° plate has the harden stereotype and the stamp characteristics are more clear.
15 centes III type:
first stamp: IIIa type - 4° plate - red – defective in the value "CENTES";
second stamp: IIIa type - 5° plate – salmon red – edge of sheet;
third stamp: IIIb/c type - 4° plate - red; fourth stamp: IIIc type - 4° plate – red - watermark.
