(2° plate 28/12/1850 - 3° plate 14/7/1851)

Hand-made paper - Original coat of arms

Type IIa - 2° plate                                      Type IIb - 3° plate

The II type 15 CENTES cliché comes from a 10 CENTES cliché; for this reason the characteristic of this 15 CENTES are similar to the 10 CENTES ones:

- stereotype;

- first “E” of CENTES with a evident dot of color in the vertical right line;

- tip of the lower internal right ornament, in the coat of arms frame, long and pointed;

- tip of the lower internal right ornament, in the value frame, under “S.” of CENTES blunted and with a color dot;

- superior part of the middle line of first “E” of CENTES defective (not completed);

- small sign on the external right side of the coat of arms (in the high part, near the acorn);

- number “1” and “5” not aligned;

- number “5” connected to the superior line of the value frame and closed because of a color dot;

- tip of the superior right ornament, in the value frame, in line with the end of “S” of CENTES;

- generally speaking the "15" is much further away from the word "CENTES" than it was in type I.

Type IIa

The characteristic of the IIa type is the second “E” of CENTES that is defective in the lower line (little breaking - the same in the 10 CENTES). With this type it was printed the Plate 2° (mixed with type I and IIa) and  3° (mixed type IIa and IIb).

Type IIb

The characteristic of the IIb type is the second “E” of CENTES that is completed and not defective as the previous type (the cliché was repaired). With this type it was printed the Plate 3° (mixed with type IIa and IIb).

The color of the stamps of II type, 2° plate, IIa are vermeil red (28/12/1850); on the contrary the stamps of II type, 3° plate (14/7/1851), IIa has a color with the pink tone (pink, carmine pink, etc.).

15 centes IIa type - 2° plate:

first plate : vermeil red – edge of sheet; second stamp: carmine red dark;

third and fourth stamps: horizontal couple I and II type (2° plate) vermeil red (the couple has an interesting outside body in the paper).

15 centes II type - 3° plate:

first stamp: IIa type carmine pink – cliché defective: "S" of CENTES deformed;

second stamp: IIb type carmine pink – start of S. Andrea Cross on the left side;

third stamp: IIb type “carnicino” pink (skin type).
